Pizza on the Grill

So this was my first attempt at pizza on the grill! As I mentioned before, John got me a kick butt gas grill for my birthday!!! How cool is that??

My mom laughed at me when I told her what she got me... she thought I was kidding...
"Steph don't you want some nice jewelry or something?? You really wanted a grill?"
Yes mom, yes I did :D

Dad seemed pretty amused at my gift, I think he was proud of my choice :D


I've heard about cooking pizza on a gas grill for a long time, and have always wanted to try. With John's kitchen under construction, this seemed like the perfect opportunity! For my first try I kinda whimped out though... I used flat out wraps as my crust. I'll try home made dough soon for sure though! The pizzas cooked up super fast and had a wonderful wood fired taste to them. Pile the toppings high and get grilling!

    Yes please. I like cheese pizza with tomotoes and peppers. Hold the anchovies.

    That sounds exactly like my mom when I told my dad I wanted tools for Christmas. Ha ha.

    I wish I had a grill because I'd love to make this grilled pizza!

    I love pizza on the grill. During the summer I cook everything on the grill and pizza is no exception. Try calzones as well ... great for leftovers and taking for lunch the next day!

    I love grilled pizza but haven't tried it at home. Yours looks tasty. I thinnk a grill for your b-day sounds perfect.

    I don't think I am going to SF this year (family commitment) but plan on going next year if they have one.

    Grilled pizza is awesome :)So fun about the new grill, too...we LOVE our grill. I even grill in the winter. My husband is more than happy to shovel a path through the snow if it means dinner is going to have char marks on it :)

    I can totally agree with wanting a grill instead of jewelry.

    Nice looking pizza and now I know what I'm going to throw together for dinner!

    I've seen this on a couple of blogs and it looks like a great idea! :) And hehe I once asked for a food dryer when I was a teenager. I definitely wasn't a normal teenager I suppose based on that lol

    Hey, good luck with the new cooker. I love mine, and am always trying new stuff.

    You are right about wanting to use real dough instead of the wraps. Also, heating the sauce will help melt the cheese if you really like the thinner crusts.

    Oh I LOVE pizza on the grill! It always cooks up so quickly and nice and crisp... I tend to pile mine high with roasted veggies though. :)

    I would love getting a grill too! My favourite b-day present was my food processor. I was so excited, everyone thought I was crazy..haha. The pizza looks really good. I love thin crust pizza.
