Beautiful personalized plates, a giveaway, and a recipe

I have the most talented 11 month old nephew. He went on etsy and sent me this beautiful plate with "chow" written on it! How smart is that kid! He knows me so well!


Walton did have some help though, Janet at Custom Sepia did an amazing job. So amazing in fact, I wanted you all to meet her and check out her shop! She has a great selection of plates and platters that she will happily personalize for you. Having a hard time thinking up a good gift for someone? Do they like to cook and entertain? Bingo, Custom Sepia all the way! I mean how classy is this thing?? I LOVE IT!!

Now onto the recipe that I made to celebrate this beautiful plate.

Tomato, Spinach, and Goat cheese stacks
Take a big juicy tomato and slice it up.
Place some baby spinach leaves on top of the tomatoes.
Top off with the fried goat cheese and drizzle with some balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, crack some fresh pepper on top for good measure.

To make the cheese
Slice a log of goat cheese into medallions, dunk into a bowl with a beaten egg white, then dunk into a bowl with whole wheat bread crumbs/salt/pepper. Dip back into the egg white and then back into the breadcrumbs. Place in a frying pan with a spray of olive oil. Cook one side until browned, flip and brown the other side.

CHOW!!!

OK lets face it, the stacks are pretty... but I'm here eating these alone... so why bother with the formality... toss a bunch more on the plate and chow down!

    Those stacks look awesome! I recently made some with tomatoes and grilled eggplant. Haven't posted them yet. I love the fried goat cheese!

    And the plate is adorable! She has a lot of great stuff on her site... it's so hard to decide.

    Love the plates; I would definitely go with the "Never Lose Your Potluck Dish Again" saying "Pursue Healthfulness"... Even more importantly, I love this recipe! I am currently on a goat cheese kick and am finding any way to take advantage of the waning tomato days.

    Hey Steph, great post as usual. Love the stacks on the new plate... great dinner party appetizer. Speaking of which, my favorite plates were the conversation starters. If they weren't so large, I'd carry them with me to parties :) I'd have my plate say something very simple and Alice in Wonderland-like: Eat Me.

    Oh wow, the Etsy site is amazing, I could literally get lost for days :) I don't know if I could pick a favorite! I adore adore the plates, simple and chic, and her bedding is fabulous :)

    I would have "peanut butter and jenny" written on my plates. Not too original, but oh well :)!

    What a great idea! I love these plates. I think my favorite item is the conversation starter appetizer plates. We all know it can be awkward sometimes at dinner parties, so this would be a great way to get things going. I would choose the appetizer plates and have my blog name, 'Healthy Chow' placed on the side (just like yours) so that it shows in pictures. Thank you!

    I really love the modern butterfly salad/appetizer/dessert plates. While I also like the one's with words - including your "chow" plate and her "feast" plate - I like that these are simple and very pretty. I'm a baker, and I would love to display something sweet on those plates!
