Get Outside - giveaway

Is it springtime by you? Hard to tell around here with the ping ponging between freezing and 80 degree weather! According to Musselman's it is indeed spring and time to get outside! This time of year is perfect for reconnecting with nature, family and friends, by getting outdoors for a spring hike, complete with healthy snacks made with apple sauce!

You may have seen my post about the fruit and nut trail cookies earlier in the week. That was one of many recipes I received from Musselman's along with a big jug of their natural apple sauce! I always prefer the natural ones, no HFCS that way.

Another favorite of the bunch is their granola, I've been making granola using apple sauce for years and I'm so happy to see others doing it as well. Theirs is chocked full of oats, almonds, flax seeds and agave! You can print the recipe here.

  1. Applesauce is great when baking muffins--use it to replace the butter or oil.

  2. In a casserole, a layer of warm buttered egg noodles, a layer of apple sauce, another layer of noodles, topped by some bread crumbs for crunch. Bake in 350 oven for 20 - 30 minutes. Always a favorite.

I use it in most things I bake to make them healthier!  For example, I just made your oat chocolate chunk muffins last night and used it there :-)

  6. I love to make PANCAKES with applesauce as a natural sweetener and flavor enhancer. Sometimes I go halves with greek yogurt for increased protein too! YUM...

  14. Like many people I use it instead of oil while baking brownies, muffins, and some cakes. I also love to put a healthy dollop of homemade chunky applesauce on top of boneless pork chops, top with my favorite stuffing, and bake. Homemade granola is one of my favorite things, i'm looking forward to trying your recipe.
