How do you like your marshmallows?

Are you a burnt to a charcoal crisp type? Raw in the center? Perfectly brown toasted on the outside and gooey in the center? There's the ticket! Since Friday was national smores day I decided to pack up and hit the Adirondacks for a long weekend! OK it was actually a planned way ahead of time birthday vacation!
smore
The most important part of the story though is how to make the perfect smore. Hot coals, not the flames are how to do it. That and slow rotations, be patient, and you too can make the perfect smore marshmallow! (above photo is almost too perfection, not enough *puff* to it yet)

Jeanne and I share a birthday so we spent the weekend doing all sorts of fun birthday things. There were hikes, beautiful landscapes, kayaking, hammock read time! All in all it was a perfect time!

So tell me, what's your perfect marshmallow?

All of your pictures are beautiful...especially that toasty marshmallow up top. They're just perfect when you start to smell the sugar burning, but they've not reached a shade of black that can't be saved. You've gone too far then. Just dark enough all around the sides and top that you know the inside is soft enough to squish out!

I was at my cousins house in the country 2 weeknds ago, and my brother made smores by making the sandwiches and wrapping them in aluminum foil. he placed the packets next to the campfire and let them sit for several minutes. When he deemed them finished, we unwrapped, squeezed them together and enjoyed. Everything was perfectly melted and delicious...with none of the perils of making roasted marshmellows.

Thanks for the awesome camping trip!!

OO that sounds like my perfect marshmallow for sure!! YUM!

MMMM that sounds like a great idea too! Although I think I'd miss the crisp browning of the marshmallow... or does it still get brown in there?
