Being a lover of tea I pack it no matter where I travel. What's that? You're too fussy to bother with loose leaf? Say it aint so! And to prove just how simple loose leaf is to make anywhere...

I brought it camping. Not so sure you can complain and say it's too complicated for you.

The wonderful people at Teavivre.com sent me the following sampling of their high quality and super delicious green teas:

Huang Shan Mao Feng Green Tea
Premium Dragon Well Long Jing Green Tea
Organic Superfine Dragon Well Long Jing Green Tea
Premium Tai Ping Hou Kui Green Tea
Bi Luo Chun Green Tea (Pi Lo Chun)

I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite from the bunch! Ranging from floral to earthy these teas are the perfect way to start my day, no matter if I'm camping, or heading to work.

Are you indecisive like me? Great news, they have sampler packs just like what they sent me! You can find the sample packs here.

I was not paid for this post, samples provided by Teavivre, opinions are all mine.

Their tagline is "rekindle your love of baked goods" I kinda love that tagline. Gluten free baking is a tricky matter. I've given it a go and had some delicious results and some pretty epic fails. All But Gluten definitely comes out on the BIG WIN side. It's one thing to say "oh this doesn't taste gluten free" and a whole other thing to say "this tastes amazing!" I was surprised all these wonderful things were made without gluten, but delighted that they had the texture of typical baked goods along with all the delicious flavor!

Best yet, all of their products are in the regular aisle.. no freezer burn here! I have to say it's one of the biggest turnoffs of gluten free breads out there. They are always in the freezer... who wants to have to thaw something before making a sandwich? Or be forced to toast it. No thanks, I think I'll have a slice of this fresh cinamon raisin bread with a little cream cheese on top!

In case you are wondering and aren't a long time reader, I'm not gluten free. I eat everything. Personally I think it gives this review a bit more street cred... no offense but if you haven't eaten a real gluten-filled muffin in years... can you accuratly compare a product to them? These things were so good I don't care if you can eat gluten, you should eat them anyway, cause they are awesome! The blueberry muffins... seriously they tasted exactly like the white flour kind, all tender and delicious. The macaroons... seriously swoonworthy. (I may have eaten the entire bag in way less time than I'd ever admit) The chocolate chip cookies?? The perfect amount of chew. And the brownies you ask?A slight crumble to them, but not in a bad way, just eat them over a plate and you're ready to roll.

Bottom line, this line of gluten free products gets an A+ from this lady right here.

You know me and green monster smoothies. IN LOVE. It's my morning routine. So when Traditional Medicinals wrote me asking if I'd like to try their line of teas that support the immune system I was totally on board to try. Plus it's winter, germs are everywhere so anything that might help support my immune system is a must.

Here's what they sent me:
  • Echinacea Plus – With this long history of aiding in wellness, this pleasant tasting, mighty blend helps support a healthy immune system.*
  • Gypsy Cold Care – Elder, yarrow and peppermint – the foundation of this tea – are a classic European blend of herbs used for centuries. Sip slowly and let your weary body be comforted by its warming properties.
  • Throat Coat – Combined with licorice and marshmallow root, it provides the comfort we all need sometimes to be at our best.

The Echinacea Plus was my favorite of the three. It tasted delicious, mildly minty with a twist of citrus! Gypsy Cold Care was a close second with a tummy warming peppermint kick. I'm not going to lie... Throat Coat was not a winner in my book and was given away to a friend who enjoys licorice. I personally can't stand licorice... so that one had to go... but if you LIKE licorice... you'll love this one.

You might notice the double packaging in the pictures above. They recently rebranded and the graphic designer in me is super happy to see the new look. Well done whoever redesigned these!

So so very happy! It's Christmas time and I got an amazing gift in the mail! Oolong teas from Teavivre!!

Check out what they sent me:

Taiwan Osmanthus Oolong Tea
Taiwan High Mountain Oolong Tea
Superfine Taiwan Moderately-Roasted Dong Ding Oolong Tea
Superfine Taiwan Qing Xiang Dong Ding Oolong Tea
Superfine Taiwan Ali Shan Oolong Tea

Even better news they are having a buy one get one 50% off sale right now! So go go go!

As you probably already realize I LOVE tea. Love it. I drink a good 6-8 cups of it a day. Can't help myself, and when it's snowy and chilly out, my number of cups go up. A long time user of tea bags I thougth I knew what good tea was. Enter in loose leaf tea. A friend bought me an infuser for christmas one year and I've been hooked rock solid ever since.  If you've never tried loose leaf... and you are a lover of tea... do yourself a favor and give it a try. I swear after infusing the same tea leaves for my 4th cup of tea, the taste and flavor was better and stronger than the first cup of a tea bag infused cup of tea.

That whole sentence was kinda confusing... sorry. I'm excited about TEA!!! So far my favorite is the high mountain oolong. It really is hard to pick from what they sent me, each has a subtle but powerful different in flavor. In all truth if you went with any of these oolongs you will be happy. Not exagerating, I'm in love. So if anyone needs last minute gift ideas for me... get me some more tea!!! :)

Merry Christmas everyone!! Check back next week for an amazing reindeer taxidermy crochet project!! Yup you read that right :)

Think Thin describes themselves as "deliciously natural nutrition for active women on the go." I would definitely agree! I've had the pleasure of trying the chunky peanut butter bar, the think thin crunch bar, and the brownie crunch bar.

Check out the nutritionals, I'm happy to say they don't contain 80 ingredients I can't pronounce. They also stack up well in the protein and fiber department.

My personal favorite is the crunch bar. Packed with nuts and one side dipped in chocolate. Be still my heart, I think I'm in love. :) Chunky peanut butter is a close second though and packing in 20 grams of protein in one bar. Totally satisfying!

Want to win your own gift package of think thin bars? Comment below with the flavor you think sounds the most delicious to you! For an extra entry tell me what your favorite healthy activity is to do? Walk your dog, got for a run, hit the weights?? Giveaway ends 12-7-13. Winner will be emailed once they have been chosen by random.org. US entries only, sorry my international friends.

Think Thin bars were provided to me to review. All opinions are my own.

I'm a snacker. I like to eat little bits throughout the day. It's more satisfying to me than 3 big square meals. But even with so much snacking, fruit cups can be kinda tiny. I feel like I need more than 1 of them to make ends meat of things. I think Musselmans read my mind. Introducing... the BIG cup

BOOM. Look at that thing! 3/4 of a cup of YUM.

I must admit I like to go all kindergarden snack time with them and use animal crackers as my own personal dunking devices/spoons. Don't hate, it's totally normal for an adult to be sitting at work dunking animal crackers into her BIG CUP of applesauce. The all natural no added sugar is my for sure go to favorite. I do love cinnamon but tend to bring my own bottle along to snack time and shake a dash in on my own.

Another great snack. Applesauce oatmeal. Yup. It's fall people, bring on the oatmeal mixins!! Warm and over the top delicious. (recipe at the end)

Want some more BIG news? Next Saturday, October 12, they are attempting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ achievement for the “Largest Bowl of Apple Sauce” at the Baltimore Running Festival. You can find more info about the event here.

Want to win a giftbox with all three flavors? Just comment here about your favorite thing about apple sauce! US residents only. Enter by Sunday Oct 13th 2013 for your chance to win.

My Aunt Carol makes a bazillion cookies every year for Christmas. What is my all time favorite that she makes?

Yup, she let me have her recipe. And what do I do? I make it healthier, because I have a problem. My newest problem is realizing I can't control myself around linzer torte. Even though it's healthier, it's still not healthy for you. Yet somehow I kept saying, oh it's ok to have another square... and the next thing I knew 1/2 the torte was gone. WHOOPS.

Seriously. Amazing. I can't stop eating it. This can be served sliced like a cake, but she always cut them into little squares so I followed suit here.

Instead of using 1/2 POUND of butter, I used a 1/2 CUP of Melt. It's an organic butter substitute that uses healthy for you fats (think coconut butter). It gave the torte an amazing texture and this thing was so super delicious, I can't help myself... must go eat more...

Want to win your own Melt giveaway pack! (coupons to try melt for FREE, a cutting board, and a cool spreader). Just comment below and tell me what flavor you'd like to try first. US entries only, you have until Sunday Oct 6th to enter. Wow, when did October get here??

Linzer Torte- healthier
recipe adapted from Aunt Carol

1/2 cup Melt Original
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp lemon powder (or 2 Tbs lemon zest)
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup ground walnuts
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup raspberry jam

Preheat oven to 350, lightly spray a 8" springform pan. Beat melt and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating each in. In a separate bowl mix together flour, lemon, walnuts and spices, salt, baking powder. Mix dry into wet and stir until incorporated. Place 2/3 of the batter into the spring form pan. Top with 1 cup raspberry jam, and then remainder of the dough. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until edges start to pull away from pan. Fully cool and then cut into bite sized squares.

I'm a cinnamon and sugar kind of girl. Take my french toast for example. As much as I love maple syrup, it doesn't have a place on my french toast.

Nope. I want a little bit of butter, and a sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar. Which brings me to Cinnamon Vogue. They sent me an awesome gift box full of their cinnamon related products!

The jar of cinnamon sugar was the perfect combo of the two and was fabulous on my french toast. The candles are a cinnamon citrus smell, and the tea is pure autumn. I admit I'm not a spicy tea kind of person, so this one didn't hit the mark for me, but I don't like any spice teas... so?? Can't help you out with this one.

The most interesting product in the box was the cinnamon oil. There are TONS of uses for it. The one I'm currently trying out is it's fungicide uses. We have some plants that are having issues... I'm hoping this helps!! It also helps get rid of ants! And the list goes on and on. The stuff is SUPER concentrated though, it was a 1 to 100 ratio for using it on plants, so this stuff smells STRONG. Just a warning, don't spill it on you :)

Hungry: What eighty ravenous guys taught me about life, love & the power of good food, is a memoir written by Darlene Barnes and is about her time spent as a cook in a fraternity house and what she learned from the life experience. The premise had me intrigued, a small peek into a lifestyle I can honestly say I have no desire to ever be a part of.

I have to say my favorite aspect of the book were the fantastic recipes that ended each chapter. Tied together from memories within the chapter they were indeed a delightful treat to come upon after each chapter. I will for sure be trying my hand at a few. Interview pot roast anyone? I love that she brought food with her to her interview. Sounds like something I'd do :) I totally loved her for it.

Now my not so favorite part. The book had me interested from the start, but the author kept waxing on about how unfair her lot in life was. She was a stay at home mom, who decided to jump back into the workforce once her kids were grown. The thing is she somehow expected to jump to the top of any career she randomly picked out of a hat. She goes on about her meandering career path and how nothing really was fitting or working for her. It was hard for me to relate or feel sympathy for her, since I feel like you do need to work your way into a position, not just have it handed it to you. Not wanted to abandon the book, I read on, but still had this feeling of entitlement stabbing at me through the pages. Good news though, she learns a lesson and it doesn't take until the last pages for her to learn it.

All in all an interesting read, intrigued to read it yourself? I have one copy to give away to a lucky reader. Just leave a comment for your chance to win.

I loved receiving my item in a little gift bag along with a hand written note (thankfully also written translated into english for me). You can't get more personal then that!

I decided to get this leather cuff by Hariyono who resides in Bali. I love it! It gives every outfit a little bit of something extra. It's not too bulky that it gets in the way, and I love how the edge changes width, creating a beautiful spiral on your wrist.

I bet you are wondering about the giveaway right? The people at Novica gave me two $50 promo codes, one for myself to get something (the awesome leather cuff!), and one for you my awesome readers!

Since Novica ships products just about everywhere, everyone is welcome to enter the giveaway! Every heard of Vitacost? They sell pretty much everything that has to do with nutrition and supplements. I got to try the site out and they sent me some fun things to try. The first was my favorite, gummie vitamins.

I've made fun of these things for as long as they have been around. I always joke about really... you can't take a vitamin, you have to eat them in gummy form. I'm not joking around anymore. I always have these great intentions of taking my vitamins every day. And I never seem to make it through an entire bottle before they expire... but gummie vitamins??? Yeah I don't forget to take them. I'm looking forward to taking them. These are so going on my list as an everyday item.

The next item I got to try was Celsius Sparkling Wild Berry. It says it will help you burn 100 extra calories, and energize you. I can't vouch for the calorie burn but I can say this thing was a shot of energy. I was sitting talking with a coworker as I was drinking one and she started making fun of the fact that I was talking faster and faster and getting more animated... so I guess this stuff works pretty fast on me. I only drank 1/2 the can because I was starting to get a bit too "up" for my liking. HA. It was tasty though.

The last item was Hydroxycut Drink Mixes. Again I can't say if this really works for weightloss, you are suppose to take one drink mix 30 minutes before each meal. I'm not the best at planning out taking these 30 minutes before meals, so I've only made them a few times. Taste was good for a fruity water enhancer.

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED. Congrats Madeline!

As a blogger sometimes I get things in the mail from companies to try out. Most of the time John brings in the package and leaves it by my seat in the kitchen. However when boxes from Lipton come he feels the need to drink up some of the products before I can even take photos of them.

Notice the diet citrus green tea in the back row on the left, notice that it's empty. YUP. Blame that one on the husband. I guess it's good marketing material though, "It's so good your husband will drink it before you even get to see it"

Sounds good to me, right?

Lipton has been busy coming up with tasty new flavors like coconut passionfruit. WHAT coconut?? Bring it ONNNN! And they have also been busy making up cool refreshing mocktail and cocktail recipes. Like the tea-drenched ginger refresher... with or without rum... who's going to say no to a splash of rum???  (recipe at end of post)

Giveaway time. Want to win the care packaged pictured at the top of the page? Yup the one with lots of tasty drinks and drink mixes? Head over to Lipton and check out all of their tea related recipes. Then come back here and tell me which one you'd love to try! (one entry per person, US only- sorry international peeps!) Winner will be selected by random.org and emailed (so please use a real email so I can contact you)

To keep up with all things Lipton you can find them on Facebook and Twitter.

Tea-Drenched Ginger Refresher
recipe by Lipton Mixologist Scott Fitzgerald

1 to go stick of lipton tea and honey half and half berry lemonade decaf
2oz fresh lime juice
1 oz agave syrup
1 dash bitters (I left out since I didn't have any)
2 Tbs ginger puree**
(I added in some fresh raspberries too!)

Combined mix with 8oz chilled water, gently stir. In a shaker add ice tea and remaining ingredients, shake and pour into a tall glass. Stir in a little dark rum if you want to add some flare!

**Ginger puree: 6 pieces of peeled ginger + 1 tsp of cane sugar, blend until even consistency.

Products and giveaway were provided by Lipton, all thoughts and opinions are mine.

OK people. Final review time! I've been sticking strictly to the Revolt Now Fitness workout plan for the past 12 weeks. When I was asked to do this I was very skeptical  it seemed like a typical marketing "loose weight!!" kind of program. But I was intrigued by it so I said I'd give it a go.

The web page totes a 7lb in 7 days detox. To me that's a HUGE red flag. If I'm going to make changes to my body, it's going to be slow and steady, since I didn't get to be the way I am now in 7 days. Nichole does seem to have real research behind both her dieting techniques and her workout techniques which I appreciate. I still can't say I agree with the diet plan (you eat the same thing every day, diet changes each sunday). Sure the logic is you prep everything at once on the weekend, so there is no thinking, you just eat what's made. It also gets you used to eating small meals 6 times a day, and seeing how much of things you should be eating. I get bored wicked fast though so I'd just end up wasting a ton of food and eating whatever I wanted.

I personally feel I have a pretty good handle on my diet, sure I should get some more veggies into me, but overall my everything in moderation theory works for me.  I can't imagine taking out all of my bread and dairy... just not worth it to me. Ok enough of my eating philosophies... onto the workout.

I LOVE THE WORKOUTS. That pretty much sums it up. They change every week, she has videos up daily to show you the proper form and so you can work along with her. She also has a printout so if you want to do your workout away from a screen you easily can (this is what I do). There are also 3 separate levels: beginner, intermediate, and advance. This makes this program accessible to everyone.

I've also been doing it at home or on my lunch hour in my office. I picked up kettle bells at TJMaxx for wicked cheep and already had a set of 15 lb dumbbells laying around. Add in a yoga ball and you are set to go. I'm thinking about getting a few heavier weights and not renewing my gym membership when the time comes. I actually just renewed in Feb for the year and am pretty bummed I did since I haven't been back but a few times in the past 12 weeks. Now let me explain how HUGE that is for me. I'm a gym rat, I met my husband in the gym.. I'm there 4-5 days a week taking classes and lifting weights. And since I've started this program... I've only gone a handful of times to use some of the bigger weights there and DO THIS PROGRAM. I WISH I had started this earlier so I didn't waste my money for a year membership. But what can I say, sunk cost, I'll get over it.

You're probably wondering how my body has physically changed, since that's what this program promises: drastic results! Well... I already worked out pretty hard before starting this, and eat relatively healthy, (and knew from day 1 I wasn't going to follow the diet) so I wasn't expecting big results. What were my results you ask?

I lost 4 pounds, and 3 inches total. My arms and back have became more defined and I lost a little fat from my tricep area. My waist and abs are more defined and my bum although the same size around is sitting a bit higher. My body fat percentage has also gone down 2%. Again, nothing at all drastic, but I basically went from working out 60 minutes a day 5-6 days a week, to 20-30 minutes a day 5-6 days a week. Cutting my time in half and gaining 30 minutes plus another 30 minute gym commute off my day is WELL worth it.

In the end I'm happy with my changes and know I'll continue to keep getting stronger. I also fully plan on continuing with this as my workout program. See ya later gym membership!

I'm done with week 5!! of my second uprising of Revolt fitness! That means I only have one week left and I'll be doing a full recap for you all. This doesn't mean I'm going to be stopping the program though. Total truth, I'm keeping this as my go to workout plan. I LOVE it. If you live near me and have heard me talking about it you already know this. I'm pretty much telling everyone I know to give it a try. I'm sure I'm starting to get annoying *sorry*

As I mentioned before, there is an entire diet to go along with the program, I'm not following it in the least, just sticking with my normal "everything in moderation" method because that is what works for me. So I can't speak to the diet and loosing weight aspect of the program, but truthfully the workout alone is enough for me to continue on with Revolt. Another thing I want to mention is the "support" that you get with this group. Once you join you get access to private facebook pages were fellow revolters share their ups and downs. I've seen some amazing transformations going on from couch potatoes to dropping some serious pounds and inches. I wouldn't really expect those results for myself since 1. I was already working out 6 days a week and 2. I'm not following her diet. But even considering those two things, I'm seeing my body change. And as I said in last weeks post, I'm seeing these changes by doing her higher intensity workouts in about 1/2 the time of my old workouts. LOVE!

GIVEAWAY CLOSED: Winners have been emailed

I was contacted by the people putting together Kraft Fresh Possibilities Tour, and asked if I wanted to give some Fresh Possibilities a try. Sure!

You might guess that I'm not the type to normally pick up prepackaged mixes, but I'm always willing to give something a try. Plus, it's breadcrumbs and cheese, I love both of those things, so what could go wrong? The cool part is they way it's packaged, it's one large ziplock bag that has cheese on one side side, and bread crumbs on the other, you pull the divider apart and mix the two together. Toss in your chicken, shake, and you are ready to pop them in the oven! Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and a side of potato salad (recipe to come) and dinner is ready.

The tour is currently working its way around the country, if you want to try these mixes first hand head here: Try Fresh Take, to see if the truck is coming near you!

Now for the giveaway! I have three $10 walmart giftcards that Fresh Possibilities would like to give away so you can go try some for yourself! To enter just head to KraftRecipes.com and then comment here about which flavor or recipe idea you'd like to try! One entry per person, US only.

I was provided samples of Fresh Possibilities, all opinions are mine.

Week four is over!? That means there are only 2 weeks left of my Revolt Now Fitness experience left! I told you last week that this second installment of Revolt was seriously kicking butt. The workouts keep my body guessing and I'm loving how often they change!

In case you are just tuning in, the workouts are broken down into 3 days of cardio, one day upper body focus, and one day lower body focus. She's also introduced a new thing called sevens where you do large circuit of 7 exercises, but instead of doing them once through and rest, then repeat, you build on them like a ladder without rest. I LOVE them!!! Again, mixing things up and keeping me interested!

This program is marketed as a weight loss program. As I've said before, I'm not following the diet and I'm using it strictly as an exercise program. Here's the best part. I went from going to the gym 6 days a week, doing hour long spin classes, and weight routines and elliptical trainers, and I was maintaining my weight. Now I'm doing Nichole's 20-30 minute 5-6 day a week routines AT HOME, and I'm still maintaining my weight. Seriously, the woman cut my workout time in half, and I feel like I'm in better shape now that I was when I was living at the gym. To me that is worth it, I've gained time, am no longer bored, never wondering "what should I do today to work out" It's all planned out, easy to follow, and has 3 levels of intensity. I know I sound like a marketing pitch, but I REALLY do love the workouts. Diet, no. Workouts YES! :)

When I was first asked to do 2- 6 week long uprisings with Revolt I was thinking "man that's a long time... i'm totally going to get bored with it" Amazingly so it's already the end of week 9, and I am not even close to being bored. Nichole has upper her game with this second uprising, she's taken input from the first 6 week program and has made this second one even better. The workouts have 3 levels so someone at any fitness level can play along (I wasn't feeling totally challenged during the first uprising, now I'm having to push hard to finish the advanced level and loving it). Her design of handouts has gotten more user friendly, and from the sounds of it the upgraded website is going to be even better.

Truthfully, if you are looking for a constantly changing schedule of what to do at the gym or your home makeshift gym (you don't need much to make this work at home), this program rocks. Even me being a dedicated gym rat I had become lackluster with my routine, and this was just what I was looking for to mix things up.

To switch things up, here's a photo of the cats we have at work. This is how they sit on my desk every day. The box keeps them mostly out of my way so I can actually get work done.

Even though I had a bum ankle this past week I was able to modify most of the workouts to work for a one legged person (arm workout Monday instead of Friday, then a modified cadio circuit session Tuesday). By mid week I was able to put weight on my ankle so I was able to do even more of the exercises. The moral of the story is, no excuses people.

I'm really hoping to be able to do burpees and other jumping exercises next week. fingers crossed!

And now for your weekly Hobbes fix!
